Summary
In the foreground, situated in the street outside a tavern, are a group of men seated around a table enjoying a game of cards; others sit and stand nearby, spectating. A wiatress steps out of the tavern doorway carrying a tray of refreshments. Behind the main figure group, the street divides into two with the left fork looping around the square and the right fork receding into the distance. Buildings line each side of the square. A grassy slope with a crest of trees forms the backdrop to the scene.
