Summary
Foliage design. Stalk bearing to the left has a single blooming flower with four tooth-edged leaves coming from the stalk in pairs. A stalk bearing to the left has two stems with unopened buds and two large long, smooth edged leaves coming from the middle of the stalk beneath the two stems. There is other foliage and brances of leaves surrounding the flowers. In the foreground the leaves are big and in the background and edges the leaves are small.

Flower-design 1924 Eric Arthur Rowton Gill 1882-1940 Intaglio wood engraving Eric Gill was involved in the revival of wood engraving, becoming renowned for his ability with the medium. These prints are taken from the same engraved design and have been printed as relief and intaglio through experimentation with different inking processes. Fine lines are made by shallow incisions in the wood which hold less ink during the inking process. Gift of Mrs and Miss Rutherston 1928.231
