Summary
A full length portrait of Annabella Blake pictured standing on clouds, dressed as Juno with her hair elaborately styled with interwoven pearls.Her right arm is outstretched to take a cestus (the girdle of Venus that gave beauty and grace to the wearer) from Venus who reaches out from the clouds. To Mrs Blake's right is a peacock. The original portrait was commissioned in 1771 when Annabella was still married to Patrick Blake (who became a baronet a year later in 1772). When tthis marriage was dissolved she married George Boscawen.
