Study for the Temple of Concord
Summary
Monochrome architectural study in line, showing an elaborately decorative construction, possibly a shrine or memorial. A low wall decorated with columns, water fountains and a relief panel in a classical style, depicting large numbers of figures surrounding a chariot, runs across the composition; a tall structure stands behind this wall, similarly decorated with narrative relief panels, columns and spires. This design was intended for a temporary structure erected in Hyde Park with illuminated panels by Henry Howard R.A. It was one of several commissioned for the festive celebrations held in London during the one hundred days.
