Portrait of Mrs Billington as St Cecilia standing whole-length to front, head turned to face right, holding an open music book in both hands, wearing loose robe, her curled hair partly up; with cherubs in air above, one to left about to place a wreath on her head and a chorus of four to right. Elizabeth Billington, nee Weichsel, 1768-1818, was a British opera singer. Saint Cecilia is the patroness of musicians.
