She has long wavy hair half worn up and she is wearing a velvet dress with long sleeves, a white winged collar, a brooch and a ruffle down the bodice centre front of gathered silk ribbons tied in a bow. Her bodice is trimmed with pleated silk along the hem. The other girl is seated on a chair with velvet upholster and a curved back, she rests her arm on the piano and holds a letter. She has centre parted hair worn in a plaited chignon on top of her head. She is wearing the same velvet dress as her sister with a gathered up overskirt trimmed with fine pleated silk satin, gathered over a bustle. Plain backdop.
